Washington Employer Survey

New Survey Seeks Ground Level Feedback from Businesses

The 2019 Washington State Employer Needs and Practices Survey is being sent to Washington businesses. Results from the survey will be available winter 2019.

Who is being surveyed?
Some 30,000 businesses across the state were randomly selected to participate. Only businesses that receive a personalized code will be able to take the survey. This is being done to ensure adequate representation of businesses by size and location. Survey results will help shape training and education policies and programs locally and statewide.

Is the state’s workforce system meeting business needs? The employer survey will help Workforce Board policy and research staff answer that question.

The survey will help identify:

  • If Washington's employees need new training or updated skills.
  • Which skills/competencies are most important to the success of businesses.
  • What types of training are needed to meet business needs.
  • What challenges businesses face in hiring--and retaining—key employees.

Survey collection

The Workforce Board is partnering with the Association of Washington Business and the Washington Chamber of Commerce Executives. The survey is being conducted by Pacific Market Research.
