Workforce Board Activities

From programs that target teens in danger of dropping out of high school to industry skill panels that help bridge the gap between high-demand jobs and the training workers need to succeed, the Workforce Board advocates for a better educated, better prepared Washington workforce. The following are previous initiatives that were implemented by the Workforce Board.

Previous Initiatives

Workforce Innovation and Opportunitiy Act (WIOA)- Federal workforce plan that launched in 2014. The act is a key component of the state's workforce plan Talent and Prosperity for All.


Career Connect Washington - Task force aimed at accelerating career connected learning in Washington.


CTE Showcase of Skills Homeless Shelter Project - A competition that brings together CTE students to build homeless shelters

U.S.D.A. Rural Enterprise Development Grant- Surveys the ag industry to find and address skill gaps

Make It in Washington - Federal grant to advance education & skills of rural manufacturing employees

Opportunity Internship Program

Dropout Prevention and Retrieval

Lifelong Learning Account (LILA) - Pilot program aimed at helping employees save for further education.

Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE)

Best Practices Awards - Awards recognize innovation in workforce development

Workforce Investment Act - Federal act provides range of workforce development activities through June 2015.
