Workforce Board Approves Veterans Education Programs

Welcome to the Workforce Board's veterans education page!

What we do

The Workforce Board is one of two State Approving Agencies (SAA) for veterans education in Washington. The agency is responsible under federal law for evaluating and approving non-degree education programs offered at public and private institutions for veterans and those eligible for GI Bill® education benefits.

Advocate for quality, diverse education

As a State Approving Agency, the Workforce Board also advocates for quality and diverse education and training opportunities. Workforce Board veterans education staff also assist the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in preventing fraud, waste, and abuse in the administration of the GI Bill®.

Our partner approves other programs

The other responsible agency is the Washington Student Achievement Council, which approves degree-granting programs at private four-year institutions, on-the-job (OJT) training and apprenticeship programs, flight schools, and certification exams.

How we oversee

Only approved VA education programs can receive educational benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Find out more about how we oversee veterans education programs.
