System Training Capacity for Dislocated Workers

The Workforce Board is convening partners from across the workforce system to identify barriers to training an expected groundswell of dislocated workers using online, remote, or virtual learning options. This discussion group of representatives from major stakeholders in higher education and workforce development is collaborating to diagnose capacity issues in their respective sectors to serving dislocated workers and craft policy and practice solutions to address those issues, in partnership with policymakers and federal partners.

Education Stabilization Fund Discretionary Grants
These grants, funded through the CARES Act, provide $37.5 million to support states with the highest coronavirus burden. They provide state support to struggling state education agencies, and create new opportunities to help citizens return to work.

Rethink K-12 Education Models Grant and Reimagining Workforce Preparation Grant
These grants, funded throug the CARES Act, provide $307.5 million split between the two grants. The Rethink K-12 Grant looks for new ways to meet students’ needs for access to education, and the Reimagining Workforce Grant supports short-term post-high school programs to get people back to work.
