Pell for Workforce: Program Verification
For private career schools and eligible apprenticeship programs
Pell for Workforce provides federal grant funding for eligible short-term workforce training programs. Before a private career school program can potentially participate, the program must meet federal and state requirements.
Private career schools and certain apprenticeship programs can use this form to ask the Workforce Board to verify that a program meets the state requirements for potential participation in Pell for Workforce.
Overview
- Check that your school or college is eligible. Your school must already be approved to participate in federal student aid programs and meet applicable Washington state licensing requirements. A Washington state license by itself is not enough.
- Complete the Pell for Workforce Verification Form. Submit a separate form for each program you want reviewed. The Workforce Board will review the information and available state and federal records to determine whether the program meets the applicable requirements.
- If your program meets the requirements, the Workforce Board will provide a verification letter. You will use that letter as part of your application to the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC).
How the Process Works
1. Complete the Workforce Board verification form
Submit one form for each program you want reviewed.
The Workforce Board will review your submission and check information against available state and federal records. Much of the information may already be available through Career Bridge and the Eligible Training Provider List.

2. The Workforce Board reviews your program
We will review the information you provide and verify applicable requirements using available state and federal records. If additional information or documentation is needed, we will contact you.
3. Receive your verification letter
If the Workforce Board verifies this program you will be provided a verification letter. You will use that letter when you apply through the Washington Student Achievement Council.
4. Complete the WSAC application
The Workforce Board verification is not the final application for Pell for Workforce.
After receiving your verification letter, you will submit the required application to the Washington Student Achievement Council (WSAC).
What You’ll Need
The verification form asks for information about your school and program, including:
- School and federal student aid information
- Washington licensing and accreditation
- Program name and length
- Credential awarded
- Occupation the program prepares students to enter
- Employer engagement
- Program completion and employment information
- Whether another organization teaches part of the program
- Required attestations and supporting documentation
You may not need to provide everything listed. The Workforce Board will use available state and federal records when possible. Keeping your Career Bridge and Eligible Training Provider List information current can reduce what you need to submit.
